The Ultimately Versatile, Best Tomato Sauce, Vegan Recipe

This sauce is soooo easy to make and is beautifully versatile. It is great as a pizza sauce, as a base for other pasta sauces, or just as a standalone sauce with pasta for a simple and quick dish

This sauce can be made ahead and frozen in batches and used however you like. Very simple and cost effective too
Ingredients
1 medium onion, peeled and roughly chopped
3 cloves of garlic, peeled and chopped
1 tablespoon of olive oil
1 400g tin chopped tomatoes
1/4 tsp salt
Lots of freshly ground pepper
1/4 tsp sugar
1 small handful fresh basil roughly chopped
1tbsp tomato puree
Method
Heat the oil in a pan and add the onions and garlic. Cook on low for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally until starting to soften. Add everything else to the pan apart from the puree, mix and bring to a gently bubble. Cover, and allow to cook on low, stirring occasionally for 20 minutes

Add the puree and blend until smooth with a stick blender. Use and enjoy!
